I love visiting new and different places in the world. Places where I’ve never been before, but also places that I’ve already been before but love to come back. Today I want to talk to you about my travelplans the upcoming year.
The actual plan was to go to Rome in August. Unfortunately I had to cancel it. But I really don’t mind, because there will be plenty of other possibilities. I will go to Rome again (I’ve been there before), but maybe next year.
By the way, if you haven’t been to Rome, you must go there once. Rome is the most beautiful city I’ve ever been and it has everything. It has the history that you can still see everywhere, beautiful nature and ofcourse the best wine and food.
In The Netherlands we have this thing called Srprs.me (which obviously stands for surprise me). You can book a vacation with them and you can decide how many nights you want to go, if you want to have a cheap accommodation or a luxury one and they just book that in a city that you don’t know about. You will receive a code in your mail a week before departure and you have to wait to check that code online until you’re at the airport. I did it once about 5 years ago and I did a multi-city-trip. That meant that we were going to three different cities. We started in Prague, after that we went to Milan and the last city was Lisbon. It was an amazing experience!
In october I want to do it again, but just for a weekend. Because I don’t want to have to take a lot of vacationdays, because as a freelancer, you pay for your own vacationdays. If you miss a day of work, you miss a day of pay. So I think that I just want to leave on friday and come back on sunday. But where am I going? I don’t know yet! So exciting!
The christmasweekend I will be going a long weekend (so including friday and monday) to Paris and I’m so looking forward to it! I’ve been to Paris so many times, but I love it every time. Though this will be the first time that I will stay in a hotel right in the city centre. It’s literally ON the Champs Elysees. But Paris, yes, I can never get enough of that city. I’ve found this place that serves good food, is not that expensive and you can see the Eiffel tower from where you’re sitting in the restaurant. I can’t wait to be there at Christmastime.
Then something that I’m really looking forward to. In January I want to leave for San Francisco (yes, I’m spoiling myself as much as I can). Oh my gosh, one of my many dream destinations. I’m not just going there for a vacation, but I’m going with EF to improve my language-skills. I’ll take my work with me and work on a remote-basis. So much fun! Can we speed up the coming months please? 🙂
